Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099), which rose 13.57% or 317.00 points to trade at 2,653.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings (TYO:8309) added 8.77% or 289.00 points to end at 3,584.00 and Sony Corp (TYO:6758) was up 8.23% or 985.00 points to 12,950.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nitori Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:9843), which fell 16.10% or 3,445.00 points to trade at 17,950.00 at the close. Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (TYO:6952) declined 11.74% or 155.00 points to end at 1,165.00 and Konica Minolta, Inc. (TYO:4902) was down 8.99% or 48.80 points to 493.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2557 to 1129 and 190 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.41% to 18.23 a new 3-months low.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.69% or 0.54 to $78.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.62% or 0.51 to hit $82.89 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 3.25 to trade at $2,363.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.03% to 156.38, while EUR/JPY rose 0.01% to 169.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 104.85.
