Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Auto and Iron & Steel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Onano (TW:6405), which rose 10.00% or 2.70 points to trade at 29.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Hsin Yung Chie (TW:2114) added 9.99% or 8.40 points to end at 92.50 and Apex Medical (TW:4106) was up 9.95% or 4.10 points to 45.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taiwan Paiho (TW:9938), which fell 6.87% or 5.90 points to trade at 80.00 at the close. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 5.53% or 2.00 points to end at 34.15 and Paiho Shih (TW:8404) was down 5.53% or 1.65 points to 28.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 430 to 414.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.38% or 0.21 to $57.17 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.60% or 0.38 to hit $62.38 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.45% or 5.30 to trade at $1164.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.51% to 30.940, while TWD/CNY rose 0.20% to 0.1999.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.39.
