Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Construction and Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025), which rose 10.00% or 0.180 points to trade at 1.980 at the close. Meanwhile, Calin (TW:4976) added 9.86% or 2.10 points to end at 23.40 and Sino Horizon (TW:2923) was up 9.85% or 2.00 points to 22.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fu Hsing Indu (TW:9924), which fell 9.67% or 4.50 points to trade at 42.05 at the close. Epistar (TW:2448) declined 4.91% or 1.10 points to end at 21.30 and Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) was down 4.44% or 0.20 points to 4.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 422 to 354 and 82 ended unchanged.
Shares in Calin (TW:4976) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.86% or 2.10 to 23.40.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.64% or 0.30 to $46.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.87% or 0.43 to hit $48.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.73% or 9.85 to trade at $1347.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.51% to 31.439, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2121.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 94.98.
