Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Machinery and Other sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Logah (TW:3593), which rose 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Biostar (TW:2399) added 9.95% or 1.10 points to end at 12.15 and Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) was up 9.90% or 15.00 points to 166.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Green Seal (TW:1262), which fell 8.95% or 14.00 points to trade at 142.50 at the close. Tah Tong Texti (TW:1441) declined 5.07% or 0.52 points to end at 9.73 and Hanpin (TW:2488) was down 3.95% or 1.90 points to 46.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 523 to 236 and 118 ended unchanged.
Shares in Logah (TW:3593) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 1.00 to 11.00. Shares in Biostar (TW:2399) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.95% or 1.10 to 12.15. Shares in Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.90% or 15.00 to 166.50.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.20% or 0.10 to $49.46 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $52.48 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.04 to trade at $1265.16 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.35% to 30.036, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2300.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 98.75.
