Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Iron & Steel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yieh Hsing Ent (TW:2007), which rose 10.00% or 0.47 points to trade at 5.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) added 9.94% or 0.17 points to end at 1.88 and Pec (TW:4916) was up 9.90% or 4.05 points to 44.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.15% or 0.26 points to trade at 2.58 at the close. Shin Shin Nat (TW:9918) declined 7.16% or 2.45 points to end at 31.75 and Shuttle (TW:2405) was down 6.98% or 0.75 points to 10.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 472 to 277 and 104 ended unchanged.
Shares in Candmark (TW:5259) fell to all time lows; down 9.15% or 0.26 to 2.58. Shares in Pec (TW:4916) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.90% or 4.05 to 44.95.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.56% or 0.65 to $41.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.31% or 0.58 to hit $43.60 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.07% or 13.30 to trade at $1235.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.20% to 32.411, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1996.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 95.03.
