Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Machinery, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jenn Feng (TW:1538), which rose 10.00% or 0.71 points to trade at 7.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Gemtek Tech (TW:4906) added 9.99% or 3.35 points to end at 36.90 and Acceptance (TW:9941) was up 9.97% or 9.70 points to 107.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which fell 7.24% or 1.10 points to trade at 14.10 at the close. Ahoku Eltr (TW:3002) declined 3.36% or 0.50 points to end at 14.40 and Kerry Tj (TW:2608) was down 3.31% or 1.30 points to 38.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 398 to 351 and 127 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jenn Feng (TW:1538) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.00% or 0.71 to 7.81. Shares in Gemtek Tech (TW:4906) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.99% or 3.35 to 36.90. Shares in Acceptance (TW:9941) rose to all time highs; rising 9.97% or 9.70 to 107.00. Shares in Kerry Tj (TW:2608) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.31% or 1.30 to 38.00.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.67% or 0.34 to $51.01 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.62% or 0.33 to hit $53.94 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.55 to trade at $1254.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 30.012, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2299.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.15.
