Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Machinery and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.53% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jean (TW:2442), which rose 9.98% or 0.60 points to trade at 6.61 at the close. Meanwhile, Walton (TW:8110) added 9.91% or 1.05 points to end at 11.65 and Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) was up 9.77% or 1.25 points to 14.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which fell 5.00% or 0.300 points to trade at 5.700 at the close. Candmark (TW:5259) declined 4.95% or 0.10 points to end at 1.92 and Lily Textile (TW:1443) was down 4.61% or 0.23 points to 4.76.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 403 to 312 and 131 ended unchanged.
Shares in Walton (TW:8110) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.91% or 1.05 to 11.65.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.73% or 0.34 to $45.98 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.52% or 0.25 to hit $47.40 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.46% or 6.25 to trade at $1338.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.15% to 31.351, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2120.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.36.
