Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Semiconductor and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.89% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Clevo (TW:2362), which rose 10.00% or 3.15 points to trade at 34.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) added 10.00% or 0.36 points to end at 3.96 and Transcend Info (TW:2451) was up 9.99% or 8.10 points to 89.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aoc (TW:6289), which fell 8.93% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.02 at the close. Space Shuttle (TW:2440) declined 5.66% or 0.50 points to end at 8.33 and Prime Eltrs (TW:6152) was down 4.99% or 0.40 points to 7.61.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 540 to 301 and 2 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.02% or 0.46 to $45.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.60% or 0.28 to hit $48.03 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.20 to trade at $1103.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.10% to 32.491, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1954.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 95.73.
