Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Auto and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 6.80 points to trade at 74.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Young Optics (TW:3504) added 9.92% or 2.50 points to end at 27.70 and Getac Tech (TW:3005) was up 9.89% or 3.65 points to 40.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Goldsun Const (TW:2504), which fell 9.81% or 0.67 points to trade at 6.16 at the close. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) declined 9.80% or 0.29 points to end at 2.67 and Solytech (TW:1471) was down 4.41% or 0.20 points to 4.34.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 474 to 292 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Genius (TW:3406) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 6.80 to 74.80. Shares in Goldsun Const (TW:2504) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.81% or 0.67 to 6.16. Shares in Genesis Photon (TW:3383) fell to all time lows; falling 9.80% or 0.29 to 2.67.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.22% or 0.59 to $48.83 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.19% or 0.58 to hit $49.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.59% or 7.15 to trade at $1216.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 31.906, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2158.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 101.03.
