Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Plastic and Glass sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 13.00 points to trade at 143.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Jean (TW:2442) added 10.00% or 0.77 points to end at 8.47 and Altek (TW:3059) was up 9.98% or 2.35 points to 25.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Emerging Displ (TW:3038), which fell 4.09% or 0.45 points to trade at 10.55 at the close. Msi (TW:2377) declined 3.65% or 2.90 points to end at 76.60 and Jui Li (TW:1512) was down 3.63% or 0.26 points to 6.91.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 503 to 257 and 118 ended unchanged.
Shares in Genius (TW:3406) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 10.00% or 13.00 to 143.00. Shares in Jean (TW:2442) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.00% or 0.77 to 8.47.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.34% or 0.18 to $52.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.34% or 0.19 to hit $55.66 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1213.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.34% to 31.492, while TWD/CNY fell 0.37% to 0.2174.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 100.55.
