Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Communication and Internet sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Shinkong Syn F (TW:1409), which rose 9.99% or 0.94 points to trade at 10.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Genesis Photon (TW:3383) added 9.97% or 0.31 points to end at 3.42 and Chuwa Wool (TW:1439) was up 9.95% or 1.90 points to 21.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eclat Textile (TW:1476), which fell 10.00% or 32.50 points to trade at 292.50 at the close. Twn Pulp & Pap (TW:1902) declined 6.01% or 0.85 points to end at 13.30 and Li Cheng (TW:4426) was down 5.95% or 5.00 points to 79.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 508 to 288 and 80 ended unchanged.
Shares in Shinkong Syn F (TW:1409) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.99% or 0.94 to 10.35. Shares in Li Cheng (TW:4426) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.95% or 5.00 to 79.00.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.48% or 0.26 to $53.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.37% or 0.21 to hit $56.59 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.67% or 8.15 to trade at $1216.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.71% to 31.086, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2206.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 99.45.
