Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which rose 10.00% or 0.73 points to trade at 8.03 at the close. Meanwhile, Young Optics (TW:3504) added 9.93% or 3.00 points to end at 33.20 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) was up 9.89% or 0.180 points to 2.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dfi (TW:2397), which fell 5.69% or 3.00 points to trade at 49.70 at the close. Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) declined 5.33% or 0.24 points to end at 4.26 and Cyberpower (TW:3617) was down 4.05% or 5.00 points to 118.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 446 to 264 and 143 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.22% or 0.11 to $49.24 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.28% or 0.14 to hit $50.02 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.14% or 1.75 to trade at $1271.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.30% to 32.122, while TWD/CNY rose 0.29% to 0.2055.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 93.53.
