Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Communication and Internet sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Fast (TW:3622), which rose 9.96% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Epileds Tech (TW:4956) added 9.91% or 1.10 points to end at 12.20 and Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) was up 8.07% or 6.50 points to 87.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which fell 9.91% or 0.740 points to trade at 6.730 at the close. Great Wall Ent (TW:1210) declined 6.54% or 1.85 points to end at 26.45 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) was down 5.48% or 0.80 points to 13.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 437 to 309 and 103 ended unchanged.
Shares in Young Fast (TW:3622) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.96% or 1.25 to 13.80. Shares in Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 8.07% or 6.50 to 87.00.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.45% or 0.20 to $44.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.13% or 0.06 to hit $46.14 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.32% or 4.25 to trade at $1326.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 32.030, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2087.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 96.94.
