Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Trading & Consumer Goods and Semiconductor sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.74%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which rose 9.89% or 1.30 points to trade at 14.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Elite Matl (TW:2383) added 8.08% or 5.90 points to end at 78.90 and Rechi (TW:4532) was up 7.69% or 2.15 points to 30.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sintronic Tech (TW:3536), which fell 5.15% or 0.75 points to trade at 13.80 at the close. Avc (TW:3017) declined 4.22% or 1.15 points to end at 26.10 and Test Research (TW:3030) was down 4.16% or 1.75 points to 40.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 508 to 238 and 107 ended unchanged.
Shares in Elite Matl (TW:2383) rose to all time highs; gaining 8.08% or 5.90 to 78.90. Shares in Rechi (TW:4532) rose to 52-week highs; up 7.69% or 2.15 to 30.10. Shares in Test Research (TW:3030) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.16% or 1.75 to 40.30.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 4.07% or 1.61 to $41.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 3.85% or 1.61 to hit $43.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.59% or 8.10 to trade at $1364.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.01% to 31.681, while TWD/CNY fell 0.95% to 0.2083.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 95.51.
