Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everfocus Elec (TW:5484), which rose 9.88% or 0.500 points to trade at 5.560 at the close. Meanwhile, Crowell (TW:2528) added 8.68% or 0.59 points to end at 7.39 and Les Enphants (TW:2911) was up 8.17% or 1.05 points to 13.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Htc Corp (TW:2498), which fell 5.87% or 5.50 points to trade at 88.20 at the close. Tainan Enter (TW:1473) declined 5.02% or 1.95 points to end at 36.90 and Twn Cement (TW:1101) was down 4.81% or 1.55 points to 30.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 554 to 178 and 121 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.17% or 0.56 to $47.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.98% or 0.48 to hit $48.49 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.98% or 25.55 to trade at $1313.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.26% to 32.352, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2042.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.42% at 94.27.
