Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Semiconductor and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Eson (TW:5243), which rose 10.00% or 3.80 points to trade at 41.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Via Tech (TW:2388) added 10.00% or 1.05 points to end at 11.55 and Hsing Ta Cemen (TW:1109) was up 9.95% or 1.00 points to 11.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 6.70% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.95 at the close. Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) declined 5.93% or 0.80 points to end at 12.70 and Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) was down 4.31% or 0.100 points to 2.220.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 530 to 206 and 117 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eson (TW:5243) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 3.80 to 41.80. Shares in Hsing Ta Cemen (TW:1109) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.95% or 1.00 to 11.05.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.24% or 0.11 to $46.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $49.09 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1329.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.24% to 31.689, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2091.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 94.72.
